Dr. Christie Jenkins has been working in the social service field for over 24 years. She began working in underground domestic violence safe houses with survivors and their families. She has been a counselor for over 14 years and she is independently licensed in two states with a supervisory designation in the state of Ohio. She is the CEO of the Family and Child Abuse Prevention Center and a Core Faculty member for Walden University. She has presented locally, at the state and national levels on various topics. She is also very active in professional organizations for counselors. Her primary research interests are Animal Assisted Therapy and domestic violence. In 2004, she conducted research and wrote her Master's Thesis on gay and lesbian domestic violence.

He obtained his Master of Arts in Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The University of Akron in 2018, and his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from The Ohio State University in 2015. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision at The University of Akron. He practices and teaches primarily through a wellness-oriented, strengths-based lens. Along with being a LPC in the State of Ohio, he holds certifications as a National Certified Counselor (NCC), Certified Wellness Counselor (CWC), Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCATP), and Certified Clinical Telemental Health Provider (CTMH). He has invited presentations as well as national, state, and regional conference presentations on, among other topics, LGBTGEQIAP+ issues in counseling. Stephanie Durham is a licensed professional counselor practicing as a school-based therapist at South Community Inc. in Dayton, Ohio working primarily with children and teens in grades two through eight. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a concentration in addiction in 2016 from Southern New Hampshire University, followed by a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2018 from Bowling Green State University. Stephanie has previously served as secretary for Chi Sigma Iota – Beta Gamma as well as Northwest Regional Representative for ALGBTICO. She has conducted research and presented on various topics including mental health implications of transitions in educational settings, representation of the counseling profession in pop culture, and affirmative pedagogy as it relates to LGBTQ+ college retention. James recently graduated from Walden University with his Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. James is a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success, Chi Sigma Iota Walden University Chapter, Society for Sexual, Affectional, Intersex, and Gender Expansive Identities (SAIGE), Association for Creativity in Counseling (ACC), Ohio Counseling Association, Treasurer of Ohio chapter of SAIGE, in addition, a White House photography intern in the Vice President’s photography office in 1999. James has done poster presentations on Photography and Counseling: Current Interventions at the All Ohio Counseling Conference and the American Counseling Associations Association for Creativity in Counseling Conference. They are the executive director of the Greater Cincinnati Counseling Association. Devyn is a Ph.D Candidate in the Counselor Education and Supervision program in Ohio University’s Gladys W. and David H. Patton College of Education. She holds a M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Long Island University Post (CACREP- accredited) and B.A. degrees in Psychology and History from Binghamton University.
Her research agenda focuses on the experiences of minority populations living with eating disorders, the impact of media on self- image, and LGBTQ+ issues, through a feminist lens. Additionally, Savitsky has studied the counselor's experience in facilitating difficult conversations and the impact of vicarious traumatization. Social justice plays a key role in her approach to counseling, research, and scholarship. She has experience providing individual, group, and family/couple counseling.
